Dear Colleagues,

We have recently been awarded a one-year Research Group by LMU Munich’s ‘Center for Advanced Studies’ (CASLMU) dedicated to the topic of Handling Visual Distraction. This award, for the academic year 2021/22, comes with generous funding and support for a select group of scientists actively cooperating on this topic. Researchers interested in Handling Visual Distraction are strongly encouraged to apply for membership by submitting a brief motivation letter and a CV by March 30, 2021.

Starting in October 2021, the group will discuss and examine fundamental mechanisms of handling distraction, with foci on distraction in visual search and visual working memory. Members of the group – including many internationally leading experts on the topic – will come together in various online workshops over the year, with the project culminating in a conference, in or near Munich, on the topic in summer (likely July) 2022. Around the time of the conference, group members will have the opportunity to spend up to 4 weeks in Munich, the aim being to work with us and other group members on specific ideas developed over the funding period.
