Full-Time Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Vision Science
Interested in joining a large active research group with outstanding facilities, in a great location, that is doing state-of-the-art work that matters?
Schepens Eye Research Institute, Mass Eye and Ear, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, has an opening for a full-time Postdoctoral fellow to work with Prof. Eli Peli (http://serinet.meei.harvard.edu/faculty/peli/) and colleagues in the Harvard Medical School's Mobility Enhancement and Vision Rehabilitation Center of Excellence.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly-motivated person with vision science, experimental psychology, or visual psychophysics background who would enjoy the challenge of working with and for the benefit of people with vision impairments. The successful candidate will make major contributions to a project evaluating the object recognition with background clutter in visual prostheses and a project understanding, evaluating, and improving vision and the lack of vision in patients with tunnel vision. Experience in object recognition research, using sensory substitution devices, using driving simulators, or a background in a related research field would be advantageous.
PhD in an area related to vision science or visual neuroscience is required. Good problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks are essential. A strong background in computer use is necessary and above-level of programming skills would be advantageous. Knowledge of statistics or experience with people with vision impairment would be a plus.
The position is initially available for 12 months with possible extension. In addition to the online application at Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary (https://meei.referrals.selectminds.com/jobs/research-fellow-be-817 ), interested candidates should send an email to Jae-Hyun Jung at jaehyun_jung at meei.harvard.edu and should include a CV, a letter of interest, the expected date of availability, and contact information for at least 2 references (in .pdf format). Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
